Small businesses need World Cup plan

The UK’s Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is warning that firms and their employees need to discuss a strategy for dealing with the World Cup to avoid any employment issues that may arise later. The FSB’s advice to small business owners is to have a plan in place to avoid unexpected absences that could affect their ability to trade. They suggest that workers use their annual leave to watch the games or that companies allow flexible working arrangements to be made. The FSB also warns that small businesses should make sure that they do not favour male employees over female ones or assume that all supporters will be following the England team.

50 percent of workers want to be self-employed

50 percent of workers would prefer to be self-employed according to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). It found 41 percent of men and 54 percent of women rated flexible working as a high priority. That’s much higher than the 19 percent wanting performance related bonuses. Michael Rendell, head of human resources at PwC, says “Our survey indicates that employees may be feeling the pressure, with large numbers hoping for a better work-life balance in the future, and half saying they would rather work for themselves.” If you need advice on how to break into the freelance market, call the team at Excellium Umbrella today.

REC says jobs market is improving

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has hit out at claims the UK jobs market is ‘deceptively healthy’. The TUC issued the warning ahead of Wednesday’s unemployment figures, saying more people are being forced to take part time and temporary work. The number of people out of work in Britain fell by 3000 to 2.46 million in the 3 months to December. REC Chief Executive Kevin Green says ‘temporary work provides and important bridge back into eomployment and helps to develop the skills, experience and confidence to access permanent job opportunities. Flexible working options provide real benefits for job-seekers as well as employers; they must be recognised not stigmatised’. The latest JobsOutlook survey from the REC shows only 2 per cent of employers intend to make more cutbacks. 94 per cent say they will maintain or grow their workforce in 2010.

Primera entrega de diseño 3 en la UD1 de la UCV Caracas Venezuela por Fabian Ferigo El Carpenter Center fue construído en plena ciudad universitaria de Cambridge, a pocos metros de los edificios de ladrillo de Harvard Yard, entre el noclásico museo Fogg y el Faculty Club, en un terreno situado entre las calles Quince y Prescott, que no predisponía en absoluto para una configuración monumental y que a Le Corbusier le pareció inadecuado a primera vista Desde un principio diseña el Carpenter Center como un paseo arquitectónico que une las dos calles y atraviesa un volumen que utiliza las formas flexibles surgidas en el estudio del pintor. En un primer esbozo, diseñado en la maqueta con el joven arquitecto chileno Guillén Jullian de la Fuente, la rampa del paseo se presenta como una espiral.
