I am due to return to work in August, however I an only get my daughter into nursery 12 hrs a week. I know I can request flexible working hours but is there a minimum number of hours you have to work a week. (i used to work 37.5)

It may depend on your employer and what you were hired at regarding part time v. full-time. There are laws that protect your job, but the expectation is that you come back to the same job with the same hours. If you are wanting something different in the way of hours worked, I don’t know that the laws extend you the same level of protection, at least here in the US.
there is no set hours really it’s honestly up to you and further more the employer does have a say in who stays or goes if you cannot keep the hours that are given to you though or you can’t complete the work you should be
